Deep excavation training

Wyevern in association with Windmill-Training have developed a 5 day course for operatives involves in excavations who require a qualification in supporting trenches and shafts. The course aim is to provide training in safe methods of supporting excavations using traditional and proprietary systems.

The course content is as follows:

  • Natural Strata - soils and angle of response, weathering
  • Statutory Regulations - Inspections, reports, permits, H&S etc.
  • Support to Shallow & Medium trenches and Shafts in firm, moderately firm and loose ground.
  • Erection of Trench Sheets or Timbers using various methods.
  • Hydraulic Shoring
  • Trench Boxes - types and uses.
  • Steel Sheet Piling using frames and hammer/vibrator driving systems.
  • Striking and Backfilling
  • Inspection and Examination of excavation faults
